In celebration of randomly registering visualdeffects.com, I’ve decided to make a new tutorial!
In this tutorial I dissect the iDistort and Noise nodes and show you how to put them together to make a more convincing heat distortion look. More importantly, I’ll help you understand what these powerful nodes do, so that you can make your own cool distortions without having to do a bunch of random testing.
In the second half of the tutorial, I go through the process of making a group with custom functions to automate the heat distortion process. This group could then be saved out and stored as a gizmo!
It’s all about learning the building blocks of creativity!
